Exquisite Egypt’s tour guide will meet you at the hotel from where you will board a private air-conditioned vehicle for a drive to the City of Al Alamein, the theatre which according to Winston Churchill determined the course of one the most important battles, the Second World War. Alamein has an amazing museum that contains weapons left behind after the Battle of Al Alamein. You will then visit The Commonwealth Cemetery, the burial place for thousands of soldiers killed in this battle; then on to the city of Alexandria, the greatest city in the ancient world belt on the Mediterranean Sea created by Alexander the Great in 330 BC. You’ll also get to visit important historical sites in the city starting with the Catacombs of Kom El-Shouqafa, the largest known Roman burial site in Egypt, with three tiers of tombs that could accommodate up to 300 corpses. It was converted to be a public cemetery. You will proceed to the Pillar of Pompey, composed of a single block approximately 25m of red granite column from Aswan. This magnificent structure once rivaled the Soma and the Caesareum. You will get to see the Qaitbay Citadel from outside, considered one of the most important defensive strong holds not only in Egypt but also along the Mediterranean Sea coast and is located where the light house once stood. Your last stop of our tour will be the Library of Alexandria, the largest most significant library of the ancient world, located where the old library of Alexandria once stood. You will have lunch at a sea-view restaurant before being driven back to your hotel in Cairo.
